With an initial fundraising target of £50, Sales Executive Kate Armstrong signed up for Cancer Research’s Race for Life 5k to do her part in the fight against cancer. Little did she know that with a month to spare before the event, she would already have smashed her target tenfold!
When asked what motivated Kate to get involved, she explained, “I, like many other people, have family and friends who are being affected or have been affected by cancer. I have decided it’s time to get the trainers out and do something for a very worthy cause and contribute towards finding a cure to this terrible illness.”
Kate’s fundraising total sits at £506.25. While discussing the volume of response to her story, Kate explained how overwhelmed she felt towards all the donations and support she has received.
On the topic of Kate’s training routine and if she faced any obstacles upon the way, Kate smiled, “I aim to jog the course and have started the couch to 5k running programme… and despite my sofa now having separation anxiety, I have told it’s just something we’re going to have to work through.”
Kate will be running the Race for Life 5k at Hudson’s Field, Salisbury on Sunday 10th June 2018. Kate’s aim is to raise awareness of this wonderful event and the brilliant research that comes from this and similar events across the UK.
