September Spotlight: Charlie Walford – Office Administrator

We’ve partnered with The Apprenticeship Centre to take on our first apprentice, Charlie Walford.

The Apprenticeship Centre has been providing courses and qualifications for manufacturing industries and associated sectors for over 8 years. They work to place the right people with the right businesses and their national network of trainers know all the latest teaching methods and skills for the different industries they represent.

Charlie Walford joined our team in January 2018 on a Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Business and Administration. Charlie plays a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of The Joint Perforating Company. As Office Administrator, he is responsible for: processing orders; checking stock levels; raising work orders, and regularly updating customers on their orders.

Group IT & Systems Manager, Sam Halfpenny and Operations Director Chris Morris have been working closely with Charlie to help develop his familiarity and understanding of our management software and operational procedures. When asked about how he’s finding his time at the UKF Group, Charlie commented:

“The training I’ve received from the UKF Group has been first class. Since joining Chris and Sam in the Head Office, I have felt nothing but welcomed here. Through their support and guidance, I have obtained a thorough understanding of the Group’s operations and a confidence in their CRM system.”

As PA to the Directors, Jess Williams prepares for her maternity leave, Charlie will be given an opportunity to demonstrate the skills he has learned as he takes on further administration responsibilities for both the UKF Stainless and The Joint Perforating Company brands.

Upon asking Sam Halfpenny about Charlie’s development, he responded:

“Charlie has come on in leaps and bounds. He has taken on the responsibilities of his role and has shown a real desire to understand how the company operates. All of us here, at the UKF Group, are proud of Charlie and cannot wait to see where his future will take him.”

We are excited with Charlie’s progress so far and looks forward to taking on further apprenticeships in the future.
